Chamonix summer time welcomes more visitors than in the winter. And having residing in this beautiful valley for 16 years, this comes as no real surprise to us with so much to do. Whether leaning towards rest and relaxation, or high energy, adrenalin sports. In fact, there are so many things to do in Chamonix in the summer, we could only select a small representation. You don't have to go too far to have some great summer fun and keep fit at the same time in Chamonix. There are numerous low level walks around the lakes and forests, a stroll through town. The luge for some accelerated fun, or horse riding, including mountain trail rides for all levels. Outstanding tennis facilities and a superb indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Cyclists are spoilt with cycling, road and trail, and electric bikes can be hired too. Go karting can also be enjoyed a little further afield.
Literally hundred of shops and restaurants ensure that a week or two isn't really enough for Chamonix summer visitors. Beautiful chalets and farmhouses on the mountain side, luxury dining next to the golf course, Michelin Star restaurants, mixed with traditional Savoie delights. And to walk that fabulous lunch off, shops galore, designer brands, mountain sports shops, Savoie speciality shops, you name it Chamonix summer time has it all!
It isn't just about high energy sports and activities, in fact many of Chamonix's summer visitors prefer things at a far slower pace, and much to some people's surprise, Chamonix doesn't disappoint here either. There is the olympic sized indoor and outdoor swimming pool, the impressive Chamonix Spa (QC Terme), and fabulous lakes for sunbathing and cooling off.
Adrenalin junkies will find summer time in Chamonix is the perfect time to visit and play. A week climbing Mont Blanc perhaps or explore the glaciers? A Guide highly recommended for both of course. There is also sports and free climbing throughout the valley. Not forgetting paragliding, mountain biking trails, and a large selection of blue, red and black downhill runs.
