A family owned Chamonix restaurant that has been handed down through the generations. The Albert 1er is unquestionably the ultimate indulgence lunchtime or evenings. Setting the standards for others to aspire, it holds two Michelin Stars. The Carrier-Maillet family providing a welcoming, discerning service. As one would expect from a two Michelin Star restaurant, the dishes are made with the finest ingredients, exquisitely prepared. You will find every course is prepared with the utmost attention to detail. There is an extensive wine menu to choose also. Befitting of its Michelin status, service is exceptionally high but not pretentious in anyway, but geared to adults rather than families.

La Cabane is one of our personal favorites and one of the best Chamonix restaurants in summer to frequent. Situated next to the golf course in Le Praz, close to the Flegere lift, it is a beautiful location. In winter the warm, tasteful log cabin décor provides a charming ambience. As you enter the large wood burning fire crackling in the background taking centre stage. Summertime the emphasis shifts to the beautifully appointed terrace overlooking the golf course. A perfect setting for a lazy lunch, or evening dining watching the sun set over the mountain vista. The food matches the location and décor, prepared and served to a really high standard. You can also choose from an extensive wine and food menu.

Another of our favourite restaurants. Situated in the heart of Chamonix town, we highly recommend at least one night dining here in the winter, and a seat on the small terrace for lunch or evening dining the summer. great restaurant, the Caleche delights as soon as you walk in the door, decorated in authentic “Chamoniard” artefacts from a yesteryear and further excels when you sit down to enjoy its culinary delights. Whether traditional Savoie or French cuisine, the dining experience is to a high standard, with a good choice for most tastes.

Our personal family favourite, a typically homely, warm Italian restaurant. There is something just comforting about Casa Valerio that we personally just love. Operating for over quarter of a century, this fabulous Italian restaurant just seems to get it right for all ages and tastes too. Great ingredients, something for everyone in that all Italian way, meat and fish dishes, sumptuous pasta ones too, and of course been authentic, award winning pizzas too. The latter is cooked in its traditional wood-burning oven and is taste of Italy in France!

Such a beautiful farmhouse that dates back to 1754 and has been tastefully converted with large chandeliers dominate a warm traditional decor with a grand wood burning fireplace taking centre stage. Organic, locally produced ingredients, with many dishes gluten and / or lactose free which makes it a particular great venue if you have members in your party with dietary requirements (this is their speciality and no one will tell the difference we don’t think). On the edge of the town, it is definitely worth searching out in our opinion (highly recommended).

One of the cool, hip places to be in the valley. In summer the Rue de Moulins just comes alive and sitting in the heart of it is Munchie’s. Modern classics or an a la carte menu with the option to choose two or three small dishes per person and share accordingly makes it a fun, social place to be. The quality is excellent although we do personally find it a little on the pricier side for what you get. This said, most that go there won’t care, it’s a place to be seen and situated in the middle of some of the best bars in Chamonix, despite the price, it’s therefore a hit for most.
