New Ski Season – Ski In Ski Out Chalet No.5

Today sees our first visitors arrive for the Christmas ski holidays here in the Chamonix Valley at the start of 2019 / 20 ski and snowboard season. Winter bookings have been strong and availability is now extremely limited with only the a few weeks remaining in March and April.

Our thanks once again for your continued support, both new and the many returning guests that light up the chalet, year after year.

A Very, Very White Christmas!

In terms of the snow conditions, heavy storms have already ensured good snow conditions for both festive weeks (the Christmas and New Year ski holidays) with sustained snowfall expected to continue from Saturday through too, and including, Christmas Eve. A very snowy and festive Christmas and New Year for one and all!

As a consequence of the heavy snowfall, please stay safe and ski within the designated areas. Higher up the slopes, please also be patient whilst the wonderful Chamonix pisteurs make the slopes safe accordingly – if you see a piste is closed, it is nearly always for a very good reason!

Head For The Tree Lined Slopes

The tree lined skiing in and around Les Houches are our recommendation, but having said this it is also likely to be a preferred choice of others during the coming days with the snow storms reducing visibility and general weather related reasons favouring the protection that Les Houches affords skiers and snowboarders alike. Therefore please ski and snowboard sensibly when visiting this area as both the Christmas influx and the weather may result in higher numbers of skiers, snowboarders and young children on the pistes in this area.

Driving To And Around Chamonix

If you are driving to the Alps for the festive period, most major roads are in good conditions, but please take care on the final approaches to the resort where snow tyres and / or snow chains are required, particularly on local roads above 1,000m.

Roads in and around the Chamonix ski resorts are expected to be particularly treacherous Sunday evening and Monday as a result of the significant snowfall that is expected to fall at resort level.

If you are already in resort, and you need to venture out, why not use the free bus service for getting around the villages and town. Not only is it probably the safest way to travel, you will be helping the environment too.

Ski In Ski Out Chalet No.5 Update

For those of you who have already booked ski in ski out Chalet No.5, you will find that an extensive refurbishment of the Master Bedroom, Bedroom Two and Bedroom Five has taken place during the Autumn period. Blending old warm charm with a contemporary feel and look, we hope you like the new changes and  find them just as warm, snug, and cosy as they were before, but with a modern twist that befits such a luxury ski chalet in the Chamonix Valley.
