The atmosphere is simply electric. Christmas lights adorning historical buildings that date back to years long gone, Santa appearing from the roof of Chamonix’s taller buildings, fayres galore to buy your favourite gifts, cheeses, hams, pickles, tarts and more, and endless shops to buy those last minute, special gifts are just some of the reasons to join us this Christmas at ski in ski out Chalet No.5.

By day, the energetic ones head to the slopes, whereas non-skiers typically head for the tourists destinations, the ice caves and Santas grotto, l’Aiguille du Midi for pictures of snow capped peaks, shops for special presents and restaurants for long lunches. All meeting at night in town for some mulled wine and to take in the Christmas lights and many fellow revellers filling the streets.

SKI IN SKI OUT THIS CHRISTMAS AT CHALET NO.5

Let us help you make this a Christmas you will never forget. Ski in ski out, a garden for building snowmen, and a chalet that will entertain you all week long during your Christmas ski holidays.

As well as the customary warm welcome from the Chamonix Exclusive staff, as soon as you arrive you will get all the Christmas frills and delights and more at Chamonix’s favourite piste side luxury ski chalet. Once inside, any children in the party will probably be rushing to the large games, and cinema room to play and put on their favourite movies. Older guests probably popping upstairs for cup of tea, a glass of wine maybe, but most importantly to sit down and enjoy the roaring log fire already prepared for your arrival.

Christmas decorations adorn the chalet and a large Christmas tree always has centre stage in the main living area. Catered guests enjoy six breakfasts and five fabulous dinners. Four are four courses plus canapés with the fifth being a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. As well as the traditional dinner, a bucks fizz breakfast is served n Christmas Day. Some guests prefer to open presents straight away whereas others enjoy the chance to ski or snowboard (get some of pepped up energy out) first before returning to all their wonderful surprises! And parents, this is one Christmas you can just return, put your feet up, enjoy some bubbly, some festive appetisers and enjoy being served a professionally prepared Christmas Day feast, prepared by the chef with everyone’s favourite traditional delights.

A CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY TO BE REMEMBERED

Many of our Christmas guests are surprised to find that all the lifts are open for walkers, skiers and snowboarding throughout the week, including Christmas Day. This means we can all enjoy some fresh air before, during and after our special day, not withstanding building a few snowmen (and women) too.

Away from the slopes, again, most restaurants and shops are open, a few some shut early, but with Christmas Eve the main celebratory focus in France, most operate pretty much as normal. Last minute presents Christmas Eve, and dare we say also on Christmas Day……

Throughout the week, there are several events that take place, with Father Christmas’s visit the main attraction (scaling down from the top of the Mayor’s Office several floors high) in the centre of Chamonix. Ice skating also available as are several other sports. A fair operates in the town too for specialist items, presents and Christmas treats and food.

GETTING HERE

Driving or plane are the two main options available to you and your guests over the Christmas holidays. We’ve tried them both and each works really well from our own experience.

We love driving and it is now one of the most popular ways to visit ski in ski out Chalet No.5 (and not just at Christmas). Not withstanding that there is more room for the larger Christmas presents, its popularity is largely due to the fact that Chamonix benefits from the superb French motorway network that takes you to the very foothills of the valley itself. 4 x 4 is a bonus, and snow chains are essential (to at least have them in the car just in case) for the final part of the journey, but with the self adjusting ones these can now be fitted effortlessly and quickly by virtually anyone. Driving really is surprisingly easy for most.

Alternatively, most major airlines fly to Geneva at highlight competitive rates (UK visitors can choose from Swiss, BA, Easyjet, Jet2 and others). Once you’ve landed, why not use our concierge service to book one of the fabulous airport transfers (we recommend the luxury Mercedes for that special start to the holiday).
