Sarah Burke Dies After Training Accident

It is with regret that we pass on the news that multiple World X Games Gold Medalist, Sarah Burke sadly died on Thursday after her accident on a half-pipe in Park City on January 10th that severed an artery that fed her brainstem. Suffering a cardiac arrest at the scene, she recieved CPR and has been in a medically induced coma for the last 9 days.

Sarah Burke did much for her sport and ladies freestyle skiing in general, being the first female athlete to complete a 1080 rotation. Her lobbying of the Olympic Games committee on behalfg of her sport (Freestyle Skiing) has been largely attributed to its inclusion in the Sochi (Russia) 2014 Olympic games.

Our thoughts and those of the ski world go out to her husband and family. May she rest in peace and be remebered for being what she was - an exceptionally talented skier and outstanding ambassdor of her sport.
